The old Grove trapezoidal style booms are some of the strongest ever built. However, as you can see not even strength and design can stop booms from being damaged.
As with all structural boom repairs this one went back together with the same type of steel that came out of it (lab results included with documentation package), the welds were tested by a 3rd party non destructive testing firm, and it got an in house signed and sealed certificate stating welder qualifications, replacement steel used OSHA guidelines and more! It left out of here with a nice fresh coat of paint as well.
